Pixelation V & VI
25th – 28th November 2017
Britto Space, Dhaka
Curated by Shimul Saha
Britto presents the 11th workshop based on multimedia art. Prior to this, the workshops fell under the categories of Video Art and Image Manipulation. This project was initially conceived with the title of Video Art workshop in 2006, and in 2009 Image Manipulation workshop came about. A gradual process of combining different medium and bringing out possibilities to experiment with expressions is encouraged in this workshop series.
The title of Pixelation came from its meaning of enlarging or focusing on a medium and coming from its cell.
In the outcome exhibition of Pixelation V and VI, there are five artists working with the moving image and six artists working with still image. The participants deal with their individual ideas and even though they were not given any particular theme, the works in V reveal that most of the participants were dealing with social issues and history; whereas amongst the artists in VI, the works deal with notions around identity and self-representation.
